Clearcast ("the app") is a weather, sky, and air-quality app published by Loom. This policy explains exactly what data the app touches and — just as importantly — what it does not.
If you grant permission, Clearcast uses your device's GPS location (via Apple's CoreLocation framework) solely to look up the weather, sky, and air-quality conditions for where you are. Your coordinates are sent, anonymously and without any identifier attached, to Open-Meteo's forecast, air-quality, and marine APIs for that single request. Location data is never transmitted to Loom, never stored on any server we operate, and never used for advertising or analytics. You can deny or revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings — the app works fully with manual city search instead.
When you search for a city, or when the app refreshes conditions for a saved city, Clearcast sends that city's coordinates to Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com), a free, open-data weather provider, and receives back forecast/air-quality data in response. This is a direct, anonymous device-to-Open-Meteo request — Loom's servers are never in the path, because Clearcast is fully serverless and has no backend of its own.
Clearcast caches your most recent weather and air-quality results, favorite cities, and preferences (units, theme, AQI standard) locally on your device using Apple's standard on-device storage. This cache lets the app show you data instantly — even offline — and is never uploaded anywhere. Deleting the app deletes this data.
Moon phase, sunrise/sunset, day length, and golden/blue hour calculations in the Sky tab are computed entirely on your device using standard astronomical formulas. They require no network connection and no data ever leaves your device for these features.
Clearcast does not use IDFA, does not participate in any ad network, and does not integrate any third-party analytics, crash-reporting, or attribution SDK that collects data about you.
Clearcast does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect personal information from anyone at all.
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly. Material changes will also be reflected in the App Store release notes.
